about

We are children of music. The three of us have followed so many different musical paths, many of them intersecting, some of them diverging. Up until this point Endless Teeth has focused on channeling those influences into our own expressions. We love creating, arranging, and improvising so much that there was never time for playing other people’s written work. After the immense down time the pandemic provided, we discussed our personal influences and how when we first started playing in bands many years ago, the logical starting point was to play songs everyone in the band knows and enjoys. We were in the process of writing new material when we decided to try our hand at a few covers and see where it would take us. Mike immediately suggested an Ink & Dagger song, a band I only knew by name as an influence of other Philly bands I obsessed over, as one does. Justin knew them well and was all in. I was down to check it out and make an attempt, plus it allowed me the opportunity to force Mike into playing a Bjork song, an artist Justin and I love, and Mike knew very little of. At one point I spoke to Justin about adapting a Bjork song for our sound and tricking Mike into thinking it was an original only to see what he would come up with without knowing the original song. Which we still pulled off. After we decided on the songs we wanted to work on, we told Mike to not listen to any Bjork, particular the song in question, so he could only bring his own ideas to our adaptation. We were toying with a third song but writing new material began to steal our attention. Nirvana, …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Afghan Whigs, Hot Snakes…who knows, maybe another time. I think we forgot how helpful learning other music can be to your own creativity. We’ve already started to see how these 2 songs have affected our new material.
We present to you 2 cover songs, Full Circle by Ink & Dagger (1997) followed by Hunter by Bjork (1997). One is more straight forward while the other is an adaptation.
Because we’re “lawyers”, we thought the easiest thing to do would be to post the songs free on Bandcamp. However, we couldn’t pass up the idea of trying to give back to a community in need. Therefore, any donation paid towards these songs will go 100% to Philabundance.
